She was born in Parke County, Sept. 23, 1937, to Edgar and Marie (Targett) Stevens.
Emma worked as a car hop in her younger years. Later, she worked for several factories, such as Columbia House and Medland Glass.
Following retirement from CBS, she owned and drove a semi. She also worked as a home health care provider and as a night guard at Hawthorn Park.
She was a member of the Eagles, Moose and American Legion, as well as the Carbon Nazarene Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother Vernie W. Stevens.
Survivors include her son W. Allen Cooper, Brazil, daughter Theresa L. Lawson and husband David, Cory, grandchildren Jesse Lawson, Sara Greek Lawson Herrington and husband John, Jamie Herrington and David Ray Lawson and wife Amy, three great-grandchildren, brothers Tom Stevens and wife Edith, Brazil, and Gale Stevens, Knightsville, and sisters Gracie Crooker and husband Roland, Effington, Ill., and Thelma Stevens, Brazil.
At her request, cremation services will be performed. French Funeral Home has been entrusted with her care.
