Bouchie to transfer from Valpo to Evansville

Tuesday, May 20, 2008

EVANSVILLE -- Forward Bryan Bouchie will transfer from Valparaiso to Evansville and have three years of eligibility with the Purple Aces starting in the 2009-10 season.

The 6-foot-10 Bouchie played in all 36 games for the Crusaders as a freshman last season and averaged 7 points and 3.3 rebounds. His season high was 23 points in a win over Maryland-Eastern Shore in November.

"Bryan has a chance to be a really good player for us," Evansville coach Marty Simmons said Tuesday. "He's a 6-10 guy who runs the floor well. He has very good hands, he can score in a variety of ways, and he's a winner."

Bouchie was a third-team All-State selection in 2007 at Washington High School, about 50 miles northeast of Evansville, and was a member of the Hatchets' Class 3A championship team in 2005. His father, Steve Bouchie, was the state's Mr. Basketball in 1979 and played college ball at Indiana.
