Born June 28, 1927, in Clay County, he was the son of Elmer Lowell and Lilly Murphy Rodgers.
He had held employment at the Arktex Plant II, Pell Farms and Rodgers Veterinary Hospital, until his eye sight and health prevented him to continue. He loved to watch, tend and care for his cats, cows and horses.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Harold Rodgers, and two sisters, Arlene Treash and Betty Savio.
Survivors include three children, Dr. Rick Rodgers (Janet), Knightsville, Terry Rodgers (Anna Head), Brazil, and Cindy, Brazil, several grandchildren, Rick Rodgers II (Leesa), Chris Rodgers (Michelle), Jordan, Eric, Scott, Jason, Justin, and two great-grandchildren, one brother Ronald Rodgers and wife Marlene, Knightsville, two brothers-in-law Clarence Treash and Barney Savio, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at French Funeral Home Thursday, at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Scott Aselage officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 6-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
