Betty Maxine Rose, 83, Brazil, passed away at 3:23 p.m., May 31, 2008, at Regional Hospital, Terre Haute.

She was born Dec. 24, 1924, in Worthington, to Court and Ethel (Justice) Howard.

Following high school, she married Thurston L. Rose on Sept. 2, 1941. During World War II, she worked at Allison's, Indianapolis, as one of the "Rosey Riveter Bunch." Most of her life, she spent raising a family.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Brazil, for 52 years, where she taught Sunday School.

Betty was known for being well read in biblical knowledge and often helped others in understanding their faith. She was a founding member and treasurer of the Three C's Club, and Bunco Club. She was an avid Euchre player, enjoyed reading, having read 52 novels in the past year, and enjoyed flower gardening, quilting and crocheting.

She was preceded in death by her parents Court and Ethel (Justice) Howard and 10 siblings.

Betty is survived by her husband of 66 years, Thurston Rose, Brazil, four sons, Dallas and wife Jane, Dan and wife Wanda, Doug and wife Debbie and Don and wife Janette, grandchildren Lee Rose, Connie Shafer, Libby Receveur, Billy Rose, J.D. Rose, Stephanie Gardner, Ashley Hayes, Derek Rose, Stacie Rose, Kari Rose and 10 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Betty Howard, Jean Howard and Faye Arney, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Graveside services will be at Bee Ridge Cemetery, Tuesday, at 11 a.m., with David Ferry officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the service.
