Patricia Joan VanNess, 74, Clay City, passed away at 10:50 a.m., June 2, 2008, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.
She was born Jan. 11, 1934, to Edward and Kathryn (Tryon) Chaney.
Joan married Charles "Jack" VanNess on May 20, 1961. She spent her life caring for her family. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, yard work and her many pets.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Edmond and Joe Chaney, and sisters Phyllis Cooprider and Christine Finchum.
Survivors include son Mike Bolinger and wife Carol, Bloomington, grandchildren Erin Booe and husband Matt, Center Point, Cara Marion and husband Bill, Mooresville, great-grandchildren Caroline Booe and Emily and Katie Marion, brother-in-law Kenneth Finchum, two special nieces Becky Schlegel and Terry Detraz, as well as several other nieces, nephews and extended family members.
At her request, cremation services will be provided.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Clay County Humane Society. Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, Clay City, has been entrusted with her care.
Graveside services are pending at Calcutta Cemetery.
