Elizabeth Zentko Garrison Simmons, 90, Clinton, dies Monday, June 2, at 11:45 p.m., in Cloverleaf Healthcare Facility, Knightsville. She had been in failing health for the past two years.
She was born April 18, 1918, in Parke County, as the daughter of Elizabeth (Peperack) Zentko and Albert J. Zentko.
Elizabeth attended Bridgeton School. She lived near Carbon for many years with her husband of 42 years, William Wayne Garrison, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker. She was a devout Catholic and member of the Annunciation Church of Brazil and Sacred Heart of Clinton.
Elizabeth moved to Clinton and was married to Thurman Simmons on Oct. 16, 2000.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband William Wayne Garrison, a brother James Zentko, and a nephew David Gonzales.
Mrs. Simmons is survived by her husband, Thurman Simmons, Clinton, sisters Mary Frances Sharp and husband George, Roswell, N.M., and Theresa Newport, Wallace, Calif., brother Albert Zentko and wife Vivian, Darlington, Ind., 21 nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews, a step-daughter, step-son-in-law and two step-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, June 7, 2008, at 11 a.m., at Annunciation Church, Brazil, with Rev. Father Joseph Villa officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call Friday, June 6, from 4-8 p.m., at French Funeral Home with Rosary at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Annunciation Church for mass intentions or to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
