For generations, musicians have turned to music of the past for development and strengthening their own musical skills and abilities.
The Classical Choruses Musical Camp, hosted by World Gospel Church, will apply the same fundamental with a weeklong camp culminating in a final performance the final day.
Choruses from several well-known oratorios have been arranged for the unchanged voice (ages 7-15), including Vivaldi's "Gloria," Handel's "Messiah," Mendelssohn's "Elijah," Dubois' "The Seven Last Words of Christ," Saint-Saens' "Christmas Oratorio," and Stainer's "The Crucifixion."
The camp is open to the community and will take place July 7-July 11, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The week will be spent learning basic fundamentals of music, vocal production, script-writing techniques and elementary music history.
The cost is $50 per child with discounts for each additional sibling.
Reservations need to be made by June 30 in order to secure materials for the week.
If at all possible, adults whose children attend will need to assist one day of the camp at a learning station.
Online applications may be downloaded from www.worldgospelchurch.org and submitted by mail with payment.
