PITTSBURGH -- Former No. 1 overall draft pick Bryan Bullington was demoted by the Pittsburgh Pirates on Thursday.
The Pirates optioned Bullington to Triple-A Indianapolis after their 7-5 victory over the Washington Nationals. The club said it would make a corresponding roster move before Friday's game in Baltimore.
Bullington had not pitched since being recalled May 29 from Indianapolis.
The 27-year-old right-hander was selected in 2002 by Pittsburgh, which bypassed B.J. Upton, Prince Fielder, and Scott Kazmir, among others. Bullington is 0-3 with a 5.89 ERA in six career games, three starts.
