The Youth are going to Holiday World on Thursday, June 19. Please meet at the church at 7:00 am. We need your signed permission slip and your $25 by Monday, June 16. Bring sunscreen and pack a lunch! There are a lot of water rides so let's hope for a hot and sunny day.

Preschool Spring Registration is still going on. There is only one opening in the 4/5 classes and the 3/4 classes still have a few openings. This is the biggest ministry to the community of Brazil. Not only are we one of the best preschools in the area, we also teach the young ones about God and who He is.

Volunteers are needed to help with Bingo. We are short handed especially with the summer months coming up. We are also looking for volunteers to be on the bingo committee. We meet about every other month and we only meet for about an hour, sometimes a little longer. We need some fresh ideas about ways to improve our bingo game.

We play 10 speed games starting at 6 p.m., each and every Sunday and our Early Bird games start at 6:30. Regular bingo starts at 7 p.m. Our bingo hall is located at 8990 N. Kennedy Crossing Rd. across from the Northview High School baseball field. We are handicapped accessible and we have a lighted parking lot. We have a lot of good food each week also.

If you have any church news please email me at eaburt48@hotmail.com by Tuesday evening if you would like it in the paper Saturday.

Good morning. I would like to start by wishing each and every father a Happy Father's Day. Hope you have a wonderful day celebrating with your dad. If your dad is still living, consider how blessed you are. If not, maybe you could "adopt" a dad who does not have his own son, and celebrate the day with him. That could make two people very happy. A few weeks ago, we invited you to bring your mother to Bee Ridge Church on Mother's Day as a special treat to her. Well, now we are inviting you to bring good "ol" dad. I'm sure he would enjoy Pastor Jeff's sermon and the music performed by our new live band. I can't even begin to tell you how good they sound. You need to visit us and see for yourself. That includes all of you ... not just all the father's. You can find us by taking Kennedy's Cross Road and going approximately 1.4 miles. Both Sunday Schools start at 9:30 a.m., followed by both churches at 10:30 a.m. We will be looking for you and your father this Sunday.

One more thing. Don't forget that today is Flag Day. This is the day for all Americans to celebrate and show respect for our flag, its designers and makers. Our flag is representative of our independence and our unity as a nation ... one nation, under God, indivisible. Our flag has a proud and glorious history. It was at the lead of every battle fought by Americans. Many people have died protecting it. It even stands proudly on the surface of the moon. As Americans, we have every right to be proud of our culture, our nation and our flag. So raise the flag today and every day with pride.

God bless you all.

We've just completed a great week of Vacation Bible School along with the Carbon Church of the Nazarene. We were very happy to see that a number of kids came out from Brazil. The theme this year was "God's Custom Garage" in which building a custom-made car is like God creating each of with a custom-made heart. There was a good turnout of kids and adults, and I think everyone had a wonderful week of fun and learning more about Jesus. This is very important, because for many children, Vacation Bible School is their only exposure to the love of God and his Son Jesus.

On Monday, June 16, there will be an Administrative Board Meeting, and then on Tuesday, June 17, the Believers will have their monthly meeting.

Saturday, June 21, there will be a work day starting at 9 a.m. The men plan to seal the handicap ramp and do several other repairs around the area. We need some extra men to help.

On Monday, June 23, the Town & Country United Methodist Men will meet at Carbon at 6 p.m. The women of the church are preparing a great meal for them, and we hope to have a good attendance for that evening.

Sunday evening, June 29, the first monthly Youth Meeting will take place at 5 p.m. Spread the word and let's have a good turnout. There are some good things planned for that evening.

Most of our folks faired pretty well through last week's floods. We are very thankful for that, and our hearts go out to those people who were hit so hard by all the flood waters.

Remember, Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m., and Worship Service is at 10:30 a.m. every Sunday. Come join us.

Vacation Bible School is in full swing at the writing of this article. Since we have not had a VBS for several years, we are pleased with the attendance. Whether there are 50 kids or 10 kids, it is always worth the time and effort to reach them. Thanks to Karen for making this possible again, and also to those who are helping in any capacity. ?Our prayers are with those who have suffered through the recent flooding we have experienced. If we can be of any help to anyone, please feel free to contact the church. It is wonderful to see how friends and strangers come together in times like this. God is good. ?If you are not attending church anywhere else, please come be with us. We are a Bible-believing, non-denominational church, and we definitely believe in the power of prayer. Our Sunday School is at 9:30 a.m., and our worship service is at 10:30. We do offer a childrens' worship during the 10:30 a.m. service for ages 3-7, where they learn about God on their level. Our Sunday evening service is at 6 p.m., and we do have a Bible study and prayer meeting on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. Men, you are also welcome to come to the mens' breakfast they are having every Saturday morning at the church at 8:30 a.m. Until next week, we hope to meet you.

Greetings from the folks at the First Church of the Nazarene, Brazil.

Today, from 5-7 p.m., we will be hosting a Cruise In, Cookout, and Family Fun Day at the Brazil Nazarene Church at 1002 E. National Ave.

If you or someone you know has a cool car, truck or motorcycle we'd love to have it at our cruise in. It is free to join us, and all drivers and one guest who bring a car to the cruise in will get a free meal! We will have a people's choice award and the winner will receive a very nice gift basket full of surprises. Davis Street between our church and East Side Elementary will be closed to traffic. We will have cars that are participating in the cruise in to enter from US 40 unto Davis Street and then into the parking lot in front of East Side school. All others are asked to park in the east parking lot of the church.

There will be good food on the grill, home baked goodies, cool drinks and more. All food will be very economically priced, as we know most of your money goes in your gas tank. We will have a jump house for the kids. You can also try your hand at our dunking booth. We have a special guest, Brazil City Police Chief Terry Harrison, who will take a turn and also a special fireman guest from Brazil. Jump house and dunking booth cost only a quarter.

We will also have a vacation Bible school registration table set up so you can register your child for VBS which will be June 16-20, from 6:30-8:45 p.m. Children ages 3-11 are invited to join us. We will have a special class for our middle school children too. Our theme this year is Custom Garage. We will have bus and van service each night of VBS too. Be sure to sign your kids up for pickup if needed. You can also pick up information about our Kidz Klozet, which offers free children's clothing to anyone who has a need.

We hope you will join us for the fun. Everyone is welcome. Contact Erin Hood, Children's Ministry Director if you have questions at 446-0371.

I know a lot of you got more rain than you needed and perhaps had some damage to your home or business. We had our church annex floors soaked with rain and could not have Life Classes or children's services last Sunday. Also we had some carpet damage in our sanctuary but we did have worship service. We plan on all services this Sunday. The good thing about this deluge is no one was hurt or killed.

Don't forget our children's caravan services are continuing all summer long. Caravan meets Wednesdays at 7 p.m. If your child needs a ride we provide transportation. Please call our church office at 445-0371 if your child needs a ride.

We cordially invite you to join us for any of our worship services. Please read today's paper for day and time of our services. Casual dress is appropriate.

Have a blessed week and God bless.

We wish every father a very special Father's Day blessing! That also goes for Grandpa's, uncles, neighbors and men friends who give so much of themselves for the sake of others. This week Terry Jeffers will be bringing the message during Sunday Morning Worship. The text for the message is Luke 15:11-32, the Story of the Prodigal Son. However, the focus of the message will be around the "Job of the Father."

This week we are also welcoming Emma Crossen as our new summer intern (shared with Brazil First UMC). Emma is working on her Master of Divinity degree at Harvard and will be gaining experience in many areas of ministry during her time in the Brazil area. Welcome, Emma!

As always, there will be plenty of great fellowship and sharing in joys and concerns. We invite and welcome any who would like to attend! Sunday Morning Worship -- 9 a.m., Sunday School -- 10:45 a.m. Come and join us!

Well, hello again from Otter Creek Christian Church.

Did everyone get enough water this past weekend? Haha, just joking. We really need to pray fro those who were affected by the flooding. We just never know what is around the next corner so we need to have a close relationship with Jesus Christ. This weekend is Father's Day. A day that we set aside to honor our fathers for all that they have done for us and taught us. Some of you may not know how Father's Day all got started. Well, here is the story. Father's Day was first celebrated in Spokane, Wash., on June 19, 1910. Sonora Smart Dodd and her five siblings were raised single handedly by their father, William Jackson Smart, after their mother died during childbirth in 1898. Her petitioning advocating a national father's day was supported by the local ministerial association and the Young Men's Christian Association.

By 1924, the idea of a national Father's Day was so popular that President Calvin Coolidge supported it. However, it was not until 1966 that a presidential proclamation declared that the third Sunday in June as Father's Day. This proclamation by President Lyndon Johnson was made permanent by President Richard Nixon in 1972.

Our verse for the week comes from Proverbs 4:1, "Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding." We should always listen to the words of our father, for they are full of knowledge and wisdom. It is really important that we listen to the words of our Heavenly Father, God, for His words give us the best advice of all. I encourage all the fathers out there to be the kind of father that God wants you to be.

This is our calendar for the months of June and July:

* June 14 -- Father's Day supper for the men of the church at 6 p.m.

* June 15 -- Special morning service to honor fathers; no evening service on Father's Day so we can spend time with our families.

* June 16-20 -- Vacation Bible School for ages 5 to high school teens (God's Big Backyard), from 6:30-8:30 p.m., each night.

* June 21 -- Men's prayer breakfast, at 8 a.m., at the church.

* June 22 -- Youth meeting at the church at 5 p.m.

* July 5 -- Youth car wash at Advanced Auto from 9 a.m.-noon. Donations will be accepted; bring your dirty cars.
