Lois Wells Kettering

Lois Wells Kettering entered into eternal rest June 13, 2008, in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 81.

Lois was born June 22, 1926 to Mary L. and J. Arthur Wells in Carbon, Ind. After graduating from Van Buren High School, Brazil, Ind., she completed nursing school at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, Ind., and graduated in 1947. She married Donald Eugene Kettering on June 27, 1948, in Carbon, Ind.

Lois was active in the lives of her four children in roles ranging from Cub Scout Den mother to Brownie Troop leader to baseball mom. She and Don joined the Newcomers Club in Salt Lake City when the family moved to Utah in 1970. Lois served as president of the local Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.) and the Wasatch Presbyterian Women's Association for several years. She and Don also loved to bowl, golf, and attend gymnastics meets and basketball games at the University of Utah together.

Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Don, in 2002. She is survived by her children David Kettering (Michelle), Foster City, Calif., Elise Kettering Price (Dan), Cincinnati, Ohio, Lori Kettering Lof (David), Salt Lake City, Utah, and Duane Kettering (Jana), Murray, Utah, 11 grandchildren, sister-in-law Pat Schoch (Paul), Sebastopol, Calif., brother-in-law Joe Mogan, Brazil, Ind., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at 1 p.m., at Wasatch Presbyterian Church, 1626 S. 1700 E. Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, on Tuesday, June 17, from 6-8 p.m., or Wednesday at the church from noon-1 p.m. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Wasatch Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice in memory of Lois.
