Details are limited about the investigation into a weekend motorcycle accident.
Around 4:30 p.m., members of the Clay County Sheriff's Department, Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department and TransCare were dispatched to an accident scene near 7944 North County Road 650 West, just north of State Road 340.
According to Deputy/K-9 Handler Josh Clarke, apparently a motorcycle rider swerved to miss a car backing out of a driveway into the road, lost control and wrecked the motorcycle on CR 650 W.
The driver, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown free of the motorcycle. Officials have not disclosed the identity of the driver or their extent of injuries due to the ongoing investigation.
Air Evac was initially dispatched to the scene, but was later disregarded. TransCare transported the driver to St. Vincent Clay Hospital for medical treatment.
