Bedford Henderson White, 83, Putnam County, beloved dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa, entered eternal peace Sunday, June 15, 2008, following an extended illness.
He was born in Moss, Tenn., Aug. 8, 1924, to Irvin and Roxie (Ethridge) White.
Mr. White served his country in the United States Army during World War II, where he earned several awards: A.P. Theatre Ribbon, Expert Rifleman, World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the American Theater Ribbon.
Following his return from the military, he married Buna Brady and worked as a farmer in Tennessee before moving to Indianapolis. In Indianapolis, he worked for the Indianapolis Public Transportation, now IndyGo, retiring around 1987. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing, bowling and spending time with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Buna, grandson Adam Blakely, granddaughter Eugenia Rhoton and son-in-law Larry Cunningham.
Survivors include his daughters Wanda Payne, Indianapolis, Judy Cunningham, Greenfield, Ind., Karen Williamson and husband Robert, Greencastle, and Ginger Barnett and husband Roman, Reelsville, nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Services for Mr. White will take place at Upton Funeral Home, Celina, Tenn., Friday, at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Church of Christ Cemetery, Moss, Tenn.
Visitation will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 18, 2008.
