He was born Nov. 24, 1918, in Brazil, the son of Jessie Bert and Sylvia Mae (Gorman) Lanham.
Jim served during World War II as a member of the United States Army. During his working years, he worked on the railroad, for the civilian conservation corps and retired from American Vitrified.
He attended Christ Community Church, was a former member of the Brick Layers Union and the Masonic Lodge No. 409 of Knightsville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Alice Pierce Lanham in 1985, daughter Mary Jean Dobson in 2008, brothers Zack Lanham and Alfred Lanham, sisters Ollie Bemis, Katherine Philabaum, Idabelle Buffington, Bessie Cain and Hallie Glenn and sister-in-law Goldie Carr.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Dolores and Michael Hanson, son-in-law Larry Wayne Dobson, grandchildren William Eric and Sheri Hanson, Canon City, Colo., Melinda Weir, Brazil, Donald Dobson, Brazil, David Dobson, Cunot, Lori Ann Dobson Dove, Brazil, wife Janet Lanham, step-daughters Roberta LaBaume and Becky Moeller, great-grandchildren Nicholas Weir, Bethany Weir, Julie Ann Weir, Rita Hanson, Kassie Hanson and Kenna Hanson, Taylor Dove, Branda Alice Dobson, Jacob Dobson and Sierra Dobson, sister Hazel Hanney, Lodi, Calif., many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at French Funeral Home, with Jared Odle officiating. Burial will follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery with military rites.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, and prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.
