County Fair queen, princess contests set

A new 4-H queen will be crowned Saturday as seven area girls are competing for the coveted post Rebecca Seymour won last year.

The 2008 Clay County 4-H Fair Pageant is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m., Saturday, at the Exhibit Hall, effectively kicking off the 2008 Fair.

The seven candidates include Ashley Clarke, Shelby Sands, Hannah Van Horn, Whitney Moore, Emma Reed, Ashlynn Hauser and Shearea Barrett.

Clarke, 17, is the daughter of Rod and Elaine Clarke. She is being sponsored by Advantage Construction.

Sands, 17, is the daughter of Shawn and Lea Cullison. She is being sponsored by Shaw's Chiropractic.

Van Horn, 17, is the daughter of Terry and Laura Van Horn. She is being sponsored by Jackson Township Farmhands 4-H Club.

Moore, 19, is the daughter of Gary and Donetta Moore. She is being sponsored by the Wagon Wheel Inn.

Reed, 18, is the daughter of Mark and Michelle Reed. She is being sponsored by The Big Mow.

Hauser, 19, is the daughter of Blaine and Cindy Keene. She is being sponsored by Hammonds Market.

Barrett, 18, is the daughter of John and Susan Barrett. She is being sponsored by S&G Excavating.

In addition, there are 13 girls vying for the 2008 Clay County 4-H Fair Princess crown, including Rebecca Beyers, Danni Wallace, Baileigh Burns, Taylor Payne, Cami Yocom, Paige Schroer, Kayla Sinders, Allie Haddon, Emily Durcholz, Rebecca Seymour, Carli Jo Milner, Saiti Booe and Molly Powell. Caroline Beyers was crowned the 2007 Clay County 4-H Fair Princess.
