According to officials at the Clay County Sheriff's Department, officers responded to a report of a verbal argument at an unidentified residence in the Staunton area Sunday evening. During the investigation, Deputy Jonathan Chadd and Sgt. Jason Frazier discovered Amos J. Hellman was allegedly involved in a violent incident with an unidentified victim.
Hellman, 31, was taken into custody and transported to jail while officials got help for the victim. He is being held in the Clay County Justice Center on a $25,000 cash bond awaiting arraignment on preliminary charges of domestic battery, criminal recklessness, strangulation, criminal confinement and intimidation.
The case is under review by the Clay County Prosecutor's Office.
