He was born Nov. 18, 1934, to Kenneth Wayne and Elizabeth Jenkins.
Jack began his love for trucking at a young age, riding with his father for the Mayflower Van Lines. For a short time, he worked for Ann Page food distributor before joining the United States Army.
During his service to his country, he served in Germany before being honorably discharged in 1959.
Upon his return home, he married Margaret Bemis Aug. 12, 1960.
He then began working for a Steel Mill in Gary. In 1971, he moved his family back to Brazil, where he began working as an owner/operator for North American Van Lines. Following nearly 20 years of service, he retired from over the road trucking and began working for Lone Star Coal Mine and then Underwood Trucking and Bunch Farms.
He was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Gertrude Velma Hayes Jenkins, brothers Kenny and Phillip, aunt and uncle Lowry, son-in-law Jim Jones, sisters-in-law Donna Sutherland, Bertha Buffington and Katie Lou Head, brother-in-law John Robert Bemis, and mother and father-in-law John and Ollie Bemis.
Survivors include his wife Margaret, children Danny, Gary, Debbie Cox and husband Ray, Bill, Terry Wollery and husband Willy, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, siblings George Hay, Dick and Edie Jenkins, Jack Deckard, Tom Jenkins, Naomi and Denby Russell, Darlene Compton, Peggy and Jeff Sims, as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family members.
Services for Jack will be at French Funeral Home, today, at 1 p.m., with Pastor Jim McMahan officiating. Burial will follow at Bee Ridge Cemetery with military rights.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
