Charles N. McVey, 81, Cloverdale, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008, at Putnam County Hospital, Greencastle.
He was born March 8, 1927, in Diamond, Ind., to Charles W. and Mary L. McVey.
He served in the Army in Japan, in the Occupational Forces. He retired in 1989 after working for the Department of Correction as a sheet metal foreman. He was a member of the Eternal Life Baptist Church, Mooresville.
He married Essie M. Allen, June 30, 1950. She survives.
Additional survivors include daughter Diana Jones and husband Jeffrey, son Ronald Nelson McVey and wife Barbara, daughter Debbie Wright and husband Deny, sisters Ethel Drake and Gertrude Wells, five grandsons, four granddaughters and 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marylou Aker, brother Bobby (Otis) McVey and grandson Brandon Lee Jones.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, July 7, 2008, at the Donald L. Pearson Mortuary, Cloverdale, with Rev. Don Engsley officiating. Burial will be at Cloverdale Cemetery with honors.
Visitation will be 11 a.m., Monday, until time of service.
