Army National Guard Pfc. Andrew S. Collins has graduated from the Automated Logistical Specialist Advanced Individual Training (AIT) course at the U.S. Army Quartermaster Center and School, Fort Lee, Petersburg, Va.

The course is designed to train soldiers to establish and maintain stock records and other documents such as inventory, material control, accounting and support reports, automated and manual accounting records; perform stock record/warehouse functions pertaining to receipt, storage, distribution and issue and maintain equipment records and parts; review and verify bills of lading, contracts, and purchase orders; repair and construct shipping crates for equipment and supplies, and perform prescribed loads and shop stock lists in manual and automated supply applications.

Collins is the son of Bradley K. and Peggy S. Collins of East County Road 100 South, Center Point.

In 2006, the private graduated from Clay City Junior-Senior High School, Center Point.


Army National Guard Pvt. David W. Wharton has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.

He is the son of Charley Wharton of Center Point.

I'm going to be enlisting in the Indiana Army National Guard next fall!! I will be 18 and I can't wait!! My best friend is going to enlist in the Marines!! All the men and women who are going to be in BCT or are in it now or have already completed those 9 weeks don't near get enough thanks,in my opinion. I know someone who has been over seas for 6 months,though he's back now!!! FOR ANYONE AND EVERYONE WHO HAS A LOVED ONE WHO IS ENLISTING OR HAVE ALREADY ENLISTED OR HAVE BEEN ENLISTED ...... GOD-BLESS AND THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK-YOU FOR DEFENDING US AND THIS GREAT COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND OUR FREEDOM WOULD NOT BE HERE IF IT WERE NOT FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
