Alberta Marie Cantwell, 87, Indianapolis, died July 5, 2008, at her residence.
She was born July 15, 1920, to Bernice Marie (Glitz) and Gustive Franklin Howald, in Brazil.
She graduated from Brazil High School in 1938 and married Francis "Frank" Cantwell in October 1940.
She was retired from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway as Department Head of Auditing after 25 years of service in 1981.
She was a member of the United Brethren Church of Brazil until 1952 and then the Garden City Christian Church in Indianapolis, and a member of the International Travel Study Club, 500 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, V.F.W. Post 2839 Ladies Auxiliary and the Indianapolis 500 Ladies Oldtimer's Club.
She is survived by daughters Vonya Morris, San Mateo, Calif., and Karen Farmer, Indianapolis, sister Carolyn Ooley, Brownsburg, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Charles Cantwell and Eileen, LaJolla, Calif., sister-in-law Connie Cantwell, Green Valley, Ariz., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years Frank Cantwell, brother Wayne Howald, and sister Freida Wefler.
Services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, at Conkle Funeral Home, Speedway Chapel, with visitation from 4-8 p.m., today.
Burial will be at Calcutta Cemetery, Carbon.
