Farris wins weekend tourney

TERRE HAUTE -- Clay County resident Troy Farris continued to pile up the awards during weekend golf action.

Farris competed in the Dorsett Mitsubishi Mini-City Tournament, which took place at the Rea Park Golf Course in Terre Haute and claimed the tourney title.

Farris shot a first-round 68 and followed with a 68 in the second round for a two-day total of 136, besting second-place finisher Chris Cassell by three strokes.

Farris trailed Greg Livvix by one stroke after the first round, but the former Terre Haute North golfer struggled in the second round, shooting a 76.

Current Northview High School boys' basketball coach Ernie Maesch competed in the second flight of the tournament, shooting a 158. In addition, NHS teacher Jeff Gambill competed in the third flight, tallying a 161.
