Rev. Arthur G. Ferry Jr., 69, Fort Wayne, formerly of Garrett, Ind., died at 7:45 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Canterbury Nursing and Rehabilitation, Fort Wayne.
He was born Aug. 13, 1938, in Brazil, to Arthur G. and Helen (Howard) Ferry Sr. They preceded him in death.
He married Anna Louise Ashby on May 28, 1959, in Brazil.
He graduated from Brazil High School and Trinity Theological Seminary.
Arthur was a personnel manager at CBS, Terre Haute, before becoming a pastor.
He ministered at Woodville Baptist, Williams Baptist Church, New Winchester First Baptist and most recently at Garrett First Baptist Church from 1991-2003.
He was a foster parent for more than 100 children since 1992. He loved watching NASCAR and the Chicago Cubs. He was a member of the Garrett Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star and ex-board member of the Minsterial Association of Garrett, Ind.
Survivors include wife Anna Louise Ferry, Fort Wayne, sons Scott A. Ferry, Belleview, Neb., and William J. Ferry, Fort Wayne, daughters Lori A. Gamboe and husband Ted, Hooker, Okla., Christina N. Gaar and husband Travis, Garrett, Ind., and Tasha R. Ferry, Wabash, Ind., eight grandchildren, brother Rev. David Ferry, Bedford, and sister Judith Ferry, Brazil.
Services will take place Monday at 11 a.m., at the First Baptist Church, Garett, Ind., with Rev. David Ferry of the Bedford First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
Visitation will be from 2-4, Sunday, and 6-8 p.m., at Thomas Funeral Home, Garrett, Ind.
