Another suspicious fire in Clay County

Thursday, July 17, 2008

CENTER POINT -- A fire marshal with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security Division of Fire and Building Safety has declared an early morning structure fire to be suspicious.

Details are limited because of the ongoing investigation, but officials confirmed to The Brazil Times that preliminary results have determined an unidentified accelerant was used to set a fire in an old garage located at 508 South Street, Center Point, sometime between 12-12:30 a.m.

Members of the Center Point Volunteer Fire Department and the Clay County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to the scene.

According to officials, this makes the sixth suspicious fire in the Posey, Perry, Jackson and Sugar Ridge Townships in Clay County within the past six months.

From what I understand, it is known who set the fire. Time to either get the law involved or the townspeople - whoever will get the job done. Yeah, it's strong talk, but it won't be when somebody is injured or killed in the next fire.
