Happy Saturday. Have you all enjoyed seeing the sun shine as much as I have? Sure beats looking at rain most of the time, doesn't it?

Father Knows Best! What comes to mind when you hear those three words? If you're over 50 years old, you probably think of the comedy that was on TV called Father Knows Best.

It was about a wise family man, Jim Anderson, his common-sense wife Margaret and their children Betty, Bud and Kathy. Whenever the kids needed advice on anything at all, they always turned to their father because Father Knows Best.

It could be like that for us. No matter what we go through----anger, illness, loss of a loved one, loss of a job and nowadays chances of losing our home and everything we possess, we have someone we can turn to 24/7. That is our Father in heaven who "always knows best." all we need to do is to have faith in Him and to trust and obey Him. We will never let us down.

If you want to get to know our Father, come and visit us at Bee Ridge Congregational Christian Church.

As I've mentioned before, Pastor Jeff speaks directly from the Bible. Sunday School for both children and adults starts at 9:30 a.m. and church services for both children and adults starts at 10:30 a.m.

Take care and God bless you.

Carbon United Methodist Church

I was blessed this past week by having all my kids and their families come for the weekend. That just happens once or maybe twice a year and it is such fun! All but three were there, but they are getting so big that they really filled the house with noise and laughter and fun, but most of all, love.

We want to wish Sharon Crawford a speedy recovery from major surgery. Our prayers are definitely with her.

The Believers Women's Group held their monthly meeting Tuesday evening. Mildred Teter-Green was the hostess.

The church is planning big now for our 3rd Annual Church In The Park on July 26. It will begin at 4 p.m. and there will be music, games, basketball, hot dogs, and drinks furnished. Bring your lawn chairs and something to go with the hot dogs and enjoy the evening with us at the Carbon Park.

The 51st Annual Homemade Ice Cream Supper is coming up very soon. It will be on Friday, Aug. 8, starting at 4:30 p.m. There will be homemade bbq, homemade pimento cheese sandwiches, hot dogs, coney dogs, salads, desserts, homemade ice cream, strawberry shortcake, and drinks...a full menu. So mark it on your calendar and plan to come enjoy some old-time fun and fellowship.

Remember, Sunday School and Worship Service are every Sunday at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. respectively. We would love to have you join us.

It is exciting to see what God does even when He alters our plans. We were planning a youth canoe outing last Monday but with the rains over the weekend those plans had to be cancelled. We made some adjustments to our plans and went bowling and finished it up at Pizza Hut. We had 19 teens and six adults.

We continue to be challenged from the teaching of Christ in Matthew 5 on Sunday mornings. Jesus calls us to be different. Christians are being called to a higher standard, His standard, to be like Him. The message from verses 43-48 unfolded for us how God instructs us to respond to those who mistreat us, hate us and just make our lives miserable.

The natural response of anyone would be to hate. But that is not how a Christian is to respond. Instead, we are to love (doing things that will help them and not hurt them) them and pray for them. Clearly, this isn't possible humanly but with God's grace and strength it can be done. Like Jesus said, anyone can be kind to someone who is kind. Everyone can be friendly to a friend. But if we are going to be committed followers of Christ, then we must be striving to become like Him.

Jesus gives us two examples of how God is loving to those who hate and despise Him. When it rains it doesn't only rain on the fields of those who are Christians. It rains on everyone's field. So it is with the sun. It shines for everyone. Christians and non Christians alike.

So we are to follow His example and do good for those who are hateful and seek to make our lives miserable. Are you a Christian? You cannot be a disciple of Christ if you aren't a Christian first.

You can come and hear more of God's Word on Sunday's at 10 a.m. for Sunday School, at 11 a.m. for Worship and 6:30 for our Evening Service. You can also call Pastor Gordon at the office at 442-5008, his cell 812-240-3003 or by sending an email at pastor@brazilbible.org.

God doesn't make our problems go away but He is there to be help us with our deepest struggles and His Word has the answers that we need. There is hope. There are answers. Why not discover what God has to say.

We are working on some youth plans before school starts. Stay tuned for details. On July 28 - Aug. 1 our church along with some other IFCA churches are hosting a week of Bible Camp at the Shakamak State Park. We will have over 200 campers. Camp is full for this year but we would love to have any youth in grades 3-12 possibly attend next year. It's very affordable, a lot of fun but most importantly the young people will hear about how they can be right with God as well as be challenged to live their lives for God right where they live.

May God bless you! Seek Him today.

Harmony United Methodist Church

The question of the week is, "Who Chooses?" This Sunday's message is taken from the parable of the wheat and the weeds (Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43). It is a practical look at the world we live in and our tendency to want to judge others.

Next week we begin Vacation Bible School. This year we are partnering with Brazil First Presbyterian Church for an evening VBS to be held at Harmony Monday -- Wednesday and First Presbyterian Thursday and Friday. This year's theme is "Power Lab : Discovering Jesus' Miraculous Power." Call either church for details. 448-2917 or 446-2415

As always, there will be plenty of great fellowship and sharing in joys and concerns. We invite and welcome any who would like to attend! Sunday Morning Worship -- 9 a.m., Sunday School -- 10:45 a.m., 2nd Sunday Service -- 7 p.m. Come and join us!

The South Indiana Conference recently recognized Brazil First UMC as the Number One Large Church in Southern Indiana. The Sunday morning worship attendance grew 21.78 percent in 2007. There are 660 churches totaling about 113,000 in the conference.

Come and experience the excitement of Brazil First on 201 N. Meridian Street. Join us for Sunday morning traditional worship at 9 a.m. or our contemporary worship at 11 a.m.

Everyone at Celebration Christian Center is busy getting ready for our "Cosmic City" Vacation Bible School, July 28-Aug. 1, 7-9 p.m. each evening.

We will have a great time exploring the awesome wonder of God! Classes are for 3-year-olds to fifth grade. We believe that God longs to reveal his awe-inspiring self to even the youngest of children and we are excited to be part of that plan here at Celebration Christian Center.

Our young Space Voyagers will experience a fun and exciting floating space city where they can delight in discovering who God is. Our mission project this year is to provide Bibles for the kids of Brazil and to help spread the love of Jesus to each and every one of them. Friday night, Aug. 1, we are very excited to have a representative from NASA coming to explain astronaut life and space shuttle travel to us. They will be allowing students and parents to be involved in some exciting science experiments.

So buckle up, hang on,, and get ready to blast into an amazing week at Celebration Christian Center.
