The Jackson Township Community Band, under the direction of Matthew S. Huber, will perform at Goshorn Park at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, July 26.
The band has been in continuous operation since it was established in Hoosierville, Clay County, in 1915.
The band has traveled the length and width of the United States through the years, performing at national conventions of the American Legion. The Jackson Township Community Community Band annual performs at events throughout Indiana, including Merom Festival, Linton Freedom Festival, Loyalty Day and Kiwanis Day Parades in Brazil, Clinton's Little Italy Festival, Veteran's Day in Brazil, Farmersburg Old Settlers, Hymera Seafood Festival, Covered Bridge Festival, the Indiana State Fair and concerts in Clay City. The concert will feature marches by Fred Jewell, Henry Fillmore, Karl L. King and John Philip Sousa.
The concert will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. and last until 9 p.m. The Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department will also serve homemade ice cream, pies and drinks.
In case of inclement weather, the concert will take place in the Orange Building.
