He was born March 8, 1923, in Clay County, to Elmer and Lois (Buell) Schroer.
Hubert was raised and spent his whole life in Clay County. Growing up on a small farm, he learned his trade from his parents. Farming became a passion for Hubert that lasted his entire lifetime. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Clay County Farm Bureau Co-Op and was a member of the Clay County School Board and an Olde Settlers volunteer. He graduated from Bowling Green High School. On Dec. 31, 1944, he married Dorothy Jenks. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Lois Schroer and son Marvin Schroer.
He is suvived by his wife Dorothy Schroer, son Hal Schroer and wife Theresa, Minnesota, daughter Lorene Scobee and husband Jim, Brownsburg, daughter Mary Yegerlehner and husband Alan, Clay City, daughter-in-law Mary Schroer, Bowling Green, grandchildren Mark Schroer and wife Tracy, Lynda Pyron and husband Rick, Emma Schroer, Tina Teskey and husband Merle, Robin Dragon and husband Dan, Kate Yegerlehner, Luke Yegerlehner and wife Lauren and Jess Yegerlehner, David Schroer, Cole Schroer, and Adam Schroer and step-granddaughter Braiden Hill and husband David, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home, at 4 p.m., Sunday, with Rev. Myron James officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 p.m. until time of services.
