Wednesday, July 23, 2008

TERRE HAUTE -- The Terre Haute Alumnae Club of St. Mary-of-the-Woods College will host the ninth SMWC Scholarship Scramble at Geneva Hills Golf Course in Clinton on Sept. 6.

Homemade Italian beef will be provided for lunch.

The event is open to men and women golfers and the $60 entry fee includes lunch, green fees and cart. All golfers are guaranteed to receive a prize.

Donated gifts in past years have included items from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, hotel stays, restaurant gift certificates and theater tickets.

Registration and lunch begin at 11 a.m. and a shotgun start is scheduled for noon.

Prizes will be awarded to the first-place teams for men's, women's and mixed foursomes. Other contests include longest drive, closest to the pin and longest putt.

Sponsors for the event include Bunch of Ladies and First Financial Bank.

Proceeds from the event provide scholarships to support Wabash Valley women pursuing degrees at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. Registrations may be mailed to Mary Baker, 2710 Wilson Dr., Terre Haute, 47803.

To receive a registration form or for more information, call 812-235-0460 or 812-466-4682. The entry deadline is Aug. 31.
