Joseph Clive Smith, 59, Brazil, died at 2:45 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, at his residence in Cloverland, surrounded by family and friends.

He was born Oct. 24, 1948, in Brazil, as the son of Ruben and Margaret Dalgarn Smith.

Following high school, he joined the United States Army, where he served from July 1966, until his honorable discharge Feb. 20, 1970.

He was a cook for many years, working in restaurants in Indianapolis and Terre Haute. He worked at Pell's Shopping Center, Brazil, for the past 12 years.

He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, Saturday Night Coffee Club with friends and family and being around the people he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, uncle James Dalgarn and stepfather Gearld Mason.

He is survived by brothers Rick Rader and wife Connie, and James Smith and wife Stacy, all of Brazil, and special friends Mendy and Paul Carta and their children Emily and Calab, Brazil, and other extended family.
