Accident causes power outage

Friday, July 25, 2008

Shortly before 4 p.m., Friday, members of the Clay County Sheriff's Department and Dick Johnson Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to an accident causing a little more than 300 Clay County residents to lose power Friday night.

A car traveling southbound on Kennedy Crossing Road swerved to miss another car that was turning into the parking lot at Lynch's Nursery and hit a utility pole.

The unidentified driver, a Brazil resident, sustained minor injuries during the accident and was taken to St. Vincent Clay Hospital by TransCare personnel for treatment.

While the accident caused as many as 305 residents to lose power, Duke Energy was able to resore power to nearly all homes by 8 p.m.
