John Melton Rogers, 71, Brazil, died at 12:30 p.m., Saturday, July 26, 2008, in the emergency room at St. Vincent Clay Hospital, Brazil.

He was born June 16, 1937, in Brazil, as the son of Virgil and Madge Baughran Rogers.

He joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He also served in the Indiana National Guard until his honorable discharge.

He married Pearl Nevins Dec. 9, 1960. He worked several years at Marion Brick Company. He attended the Good Tidings Tabernacle, Brazil.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Melanie Airhart, son John Allen Rogers, brother Paul Rogers and sister Faye Headley.

He is survived by wife Pearl Rogers, daughter Sandra Brewer, son Danny Rogers, sisters Katherine Raab and Gladys, seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 10 a.m.-noon, Tuesday, at Moore Funeral Home.

At the request of the deceased, his body will be cremated following visitation Tuesday.
