Van Buren Homemakers
The Van Buren Homemakers met July 16 at the First Baptist Church with Evelyn Nevins and Dorothy Plunkett furnishing lunch. Dorothy gave the blessing.
Evelyn opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and the club creed. Five members were present for the roll call, Marcie Davis Leah Rae McMichael, Myrna Schrader, Dorothy and Evelyn and one guest from the FNP, Donna Black.
Secretary and Treasurer reports were read and approved.
A donation of Gideon Bibles was given to the Lena Methodist Church in memory of club member, Frances Summer, who died June 25.
The song of the month was "America the Beautiful." Happy Birthday was sang to Marie.
Our guest, Donna Black, head of the Food and Nutrition Program, gave the lesson today on her job and what it entailed. More people are in need now than ever before. Club members brought in bags of kitchen items that they no longer used or needed.
Members signed up for the lessons they would get for the 2008 - 2009 year. Next meeting is August 20 at the Baptist Church at noon with Betty Howard as hostess. Meeting closed with the club prayer.
