Local ministry participating in Macy's Shop for a Cause

Sunday, August 3, 2008

The Clay County Cooperative Benevolence Ministry will participate in the Macy's Shop for a Cause fundraiser Sept. 20, at the Macy's Honey Creek Mall.

The unique one-day-only shopping event was created by Macy's to support local non-profit organizations.

Shopping passes sell for $5 each and every dollar goes directly to the Clay County Cooperative Benevolence Ministry.

By purchasing a shopping pass, customers support their favorite cause and enjoy a day of discounts.

The exclusive shopping pass includes 20 percent off regular, sale and clearance women's, men's and children's apparel, accessories, bed and bath items, housewares, frames, luggage, china, crystal and silver.

It also includes 10 percent off regular sale and clearance kitchen and personal care electrics and technology items. Some exclusions apply.

There is also a chance to win a $500 shopping spree.

The Clay County Benevolence Ministry is an alliance of churches, social organizations and individuals who have covenanted together to strive to relieve human suffering in the Clay County area through direct assistance with appropriate resources and referrals (i.e., educational, emotional and spiritual support and financial aid).

The Clay County Benevolence Ministry will see a family for any reason.

However, the ministry will primarily financially assist the working family who has been laid off, hours have been cut, sudden illness or accident and disabled who are on fixed incomes, but often are over guidelines for any other assistance.
