The Brazil City Police Department would like to speak with witnesses who might have information about a recent two-vehicle accident.

"This is an active investigation, and we need all the information available from all the witnesses," BCPD Captain Dave Archer told The Brazil Times Monday.

Patrolman Andy Whittington and Det. Clint McQueen are currently investigating the accident that happened shortly after 2 p.m., Friday.

Members of the BCPD and the Brazil City Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Hendrix Street and State Road 59.

According to information provided by Whittington shortly after the accident, an SUV was traveling southbound on SR 59 when it apparently failed to stop completely or yield at the intersection and stuck a small pickup truck traveling westbound on Hendrix Street.

The collision forced the SUV to hit a utility pole, roll over onto its top and land in the yard of a home located on the southwest corner.

Two unidentified victims were injured, with TransCare taking one victim to St. Vincent Clay Hospital and the other privately transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

When asked about rumors of a third person running from the accident scene, Archer said no one questioned by investigators as of yet had provided any information that confirmed that happened.

"If investigators missed speaking to any witness with more information at the scene during Friday's accident, then we need to talk with them," Archer said. "They can call anytime, someone is always here 24 hours a day."

To report information about this case, or any other, contact the Brazil City Police Department at 446-2211.
