With the recent break-in at Forest Park Elementary, school officials are optimistic about the Forest Park Back-to-School Shopping Spree for the students on Aug. 5, from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
"Teachers came in and helped clean up the mess from the break-in," Debbie Zimmerman, the Title 1 Coordinator at Forest Park said. "Then they came down the hall and helped get ready for the shopping spree."
Officials are still investigating the break-in that took place between Sunday and Monday night.
"We are still hoping for a good turn out, and we want parents to know that plans haven't changed." Zimmerman said.
A parent or guardian must attend with the child to fill out an enrollment card.
Students will be treated with brand new school supplies and a backpack.
"The most important thing for us is to have a good turn out and to remain positive about the school year."
