SMWC to host nature walk

TERRE HAUTE -- Those looking for an economical way to blend education with enjoyment may do so Sunday.

St. Mary-of-the-Woods College has scheduled a Summer Nature Walk Sunday, which will be hosted by White Violet Center for Eco-Justice.

Participants should meet at 12:30 p.m., at the head of the nature trail near St. Joseph Lake and the straw bale retreat house.

The walk will last approximately 30 minutes. There is no charge, but free will donations will be accepted.

White Violet Center for Eco-Justice is a ministry of the Sisters of Providence of St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

The Sisters of Providence, a congregation of nearly 450 women, have their motherhouse at St. Mary-of-the-Woods, located northwest of Terre Haute.

St. Mother Theodore Guerin founded the Sisters of Providence at St. Mary-of-the-Woods in 1840.

Today, Sisters of Providence minister in 20 states, the District of Columbia, Taiwan and China.
