She was born April 30, 1919, in Brazil, as the daughter of the late Joseph Clifford Ervin and Emma Wetnight Ervin. Prior to moving to Rocky Mount, Mrs. Mitscher had lived for many years in Lawrenceville, Ill., and also in Wilmington, N.C.
Mrs. Mitscher was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Wilmington, N.C.
She was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Carl Frederick Mitscher, in 2004.
Survivors include daughter Carmen Singer and husband Eugene, Hardy, Va., grandchildren Kathryn Koren, Hopewell, Va., Keith Singer, Cambridge, Md., E. Dale Singer and wife Sherri, McLeansville, N.C., Carl Singer and wife Carol, Aprex, N.C., and Christopher Singer and wife Tanika, Midlothian, Va., great-grandchildren Alan Singer, Emily Singer, Sarah Singer and Collin Singer, sister Helen Penman, Oconto Falls, Wis., and sister-in-law Myrtle Salomon and husband Lyle, Monticello, Ind.
The family will receive friends 3-5 p.m., Friday, at Lynch Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Ave., Rocky Mount, Va.
Visitation will take place 1-2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at Moore Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m, with burial to follow in Summit Lawn Cemetery, Brazil.
