The Northview girls' golf team experienced several of the toughest high school golf tournaments in the state during the first couple of weeks of the season.

On Thursday they finally got to come home and the results were immediate.

The Knights shot a team score of 177 to best visiting Cloverdale (215), Linton (230) and White River Valley (248) to gain their first home win of the season at Forest Park.

"It's great to be home," coach Josh Trout commented after the match. "The girls are more comfortable here and this helps build some confidence."

So should the nine-hole scores of several of the Knights golfers, who shot some of their best scores of the season.

Hayley Miller recorded par on several holes and kept her big scores to a minimum on the way to a medalist score of 42 for Northview. Both Savanah Pursell and Olivia Oehler shot 44's to aid the cause and Mandy Thomlinson carded a 47.

Savanah Pursell shot a 44 to help the Knights to a win at Forest Park on Thursday.
"I'm really proud of Hayley Miller," Trout said. "Her game is coming together, she's hitting the ball farther and straighter.

"Savanah Pursell and Olivia (Oehler) had very solid rounds and had opportunities to be even lower," Trout continued.

Ali Trout shot a 54 for the Knights with Ali Rentschler at 60 and Shelby French shooting a 62.

Cloverdale was led by Elizabeth Wiley's 45 and a 46 from Kayla Langdon.

"It's nice to shoot some decent scores on our sectional course," added Trout. "It's good to see where you stand against the competition.

Northview's 'B' team got its first chance to play in a match this year and shot a 245 against Owen Valley and South Vermillion. The Wildcats won the match with a 202 and Owen Valley recorded a 208 with its varsity teams.

Allie Melega shot a 57 for the Knights followed by a 61 from Rissa Berg, a 63 from Hillary Thomas, a 64 from Kylee Orr and a 68 from Macie Lynch.

The Knights are back in action tonight at Forest Park with a match at 5 p.m. against Washington.
