A Carbon man was arrested on drug charges Friday afternoon after refusing to stop for a Clay County Sheriff's deputy.
Shortly before 3 p.m., Gary McKeehan, 52, refused to pull over his small purple Chevy S-10 truck during a traffic stop. When the deputy engaged his lights and siren, McKeehan sped away at a high rate of speed until he stopped in an undisclosed resident's drveway.
It was reported that McKeehan ran from the vehicle with a bag of items, which was later determined to have a large sum of cash and a white crystallized substance believed to be methamphetamine.
Once apprehended, McKeehan was transported to the Clay County Justice Center and booked on preliminary charges of one class D felony charge of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, a class C felony charge of operating a motor vehicle while privileges are forfeited for life (habitual traffic violator) and a class D felony charge of possession of methamphetamine.
