Louisiana no-hits Indiana team in Little League World Series

Sunday, August 17, 2008

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) -- Trey Quinn tossed a no-hitter and struck out 12 as unbeaten Lake Charles, La., cruised to a 9-0 victory Sunday over Jeffersonville, Ind., at the Little League World Series.

Louisiana got five runs off Indiana starter Dalton Duley in the first, including an RBI single by Beau Jordan. Two more runs scored on an error. Kennon Fontenot also hit two triples to the center-field wall for Louisiana (2-0).

It was all the offense Quinn needed.

Quinn pumped his fist after he stepped of the mound following the final out, then got a hug from catcher Beau Jordan.

Indiana (0-2) was the victim of a no-hitter a day after Indiana starter Drew Ellis threw a no-hitter but still lost.

Indiana's big highlight Sunday came in the bottom of the fifth, when center fielder Austin Hines fielded a single and made a strong throw to third to nail Louisiana runner Gunner Leger.
