She was born Nov. 20, 1929, in Knightsville, to James Oscar and Ruth Layne McKean.
She married Clarence E. Vanatti on Dec. 3, 1950, and he survives her. She was a retired teacher and taught at Riley Elementary for 29 years and was a member of the Eastside Church of Christ, Senior Seekers at Eastside Church of Christ, Christian Women's Club, National Education Association, Retired Teachers' Association and The National Audubon Society.
Her parents preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband Clarence E. Vanatti, two sons Brian E. and wife CarlaVanatti, and David C. Vanatti, daughter Carol L. Vanatti, three brothers Roger and wife Bessie McKean, James O. and wife Eileen McKean, Estel D. and wife Pat McKean, seven grandchildren Joshua Clarke, Beth Miller, Cayla Vanatti, Amanda Vanatti, Courtney Vanatti, Andrew Vanatti and James Tyler Vanatti, five great-grandchildren Cydney Miller, Conner Miller, Camden Miller, Brynlee Clarke, & Camden Clarke and several nieces and nephews.
Services will take place Thursday, Aug. 21, at 1 p.m., at Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave., Terre Haute, with Minister Abe Miller officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 20, from 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
