TERRE HAUTE -- The results were somewhat mixed for Northview's cross country teams at the Terre Haute South Early Bird Invitational on Saturday.

On one hand, the Northview girls were paced by a freshman, which bodes well for the future of the program, as the Knights finished seventh as a team.

The boys' team was also seventh in warm, humid conditions at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course.

Two state-ranked boys' teams competed on Saturday with No. 18 Perry Central placing fourth and No. 20 Heritage Christian placing fifth overall.

The Northview girls got a 23rd-place finish from freshman Alyssa Conrad in 22:58 followed by Casandra Barnett in 29th.

Running without injured senior Kylee Thacker, the Knights finished with 159 team points to place four points behind the host Braves.

Franklin Central, ranked 17th in the state, dominated with 20 points, paced by Jasmine Al-Anzi's time of 19:58. Allison Blanck finished second for Franklin Central.

Bloomington South won the boys' race with a score of 47, led by Andrew Buzzelli's 16:34. Martinsville was the runner-up with 58 points.

Way to go Northview Boys & Girls Cross Country. That is a tough course and it was a nasty hot day.
