Forest Park was a welcome sight for the Northview girls golf team Monday night as the Knights bested West Vigo, 180-216.
The Knights upped their record to 4-3 for the year, after losing matches at Rea Park and Hulman Links last week.
The score was the team's second best of the year, only three strokes behind the 177 put up at Forest Park against Cloverdale and Linton on Aug. 14.
"We struggled on the road last week, so it is definitely good to be back home," Coach Josh Trout said. "I am really proud of our effort and we put up a great score."
Trout added that Mandy Tomlinson, who again paced the Knights with a 42, has been extremely consistent on the season to this point.
Olivia Oehler notched a 44 and Savannah added a score of 46 while Ali Rentschler put in the surprise score of the duel with a 48.
"This was Ali's first varsity match and she shot her season best," Trout said. "I am very proud of her. Plus, Olivia came up really big tonight as well."
Other scores carded during the duel included Hayley Miller with 48, Allie Melega with 50, a 51 from Shelby French and a 60 from Ali Trout.
Northview will return to the friendly links of Forest Park Thursday night to face Terre Haute North and Terre Haute South.
"We know our competition and are hoping to execute the way we did tonight," Trout said. "This was definitely a confidence builder and hopefully we can carry the momentum on to Thursday."
