We're still not done.
Just a little more than a week and my fiancÚ and I are not even close to really having our new home ready to live in.
Sure, there are a few rooms that are oh so close.
Take for example the "family room." Well, I think it's the family room. Or is it the living room? I can honestly tell you all I have no idea. I'm not really in the decision process.
But I digress.
The "family room" was really one of the first rooms we tackled after moving in.
It had to be situated accordingly. It's going to be the room where the Indianapolis Colts' games will be viewed in, so my television was placed in there.
But, wait, there's more.
It had to be painted. Colts blue.
My fiancÚ and I traveled up to Indianapolis close to month ago to stand in line to get tickets for the Lucas Oil Stadium Tour, which was scheduled for Aug. 16, the day after our closing on our new home.
After getting those tickets, we drove to a Home Depot to get paint for the "family room."
That particular room had already been designated as the entertainment room. The big TV would be housed there, one of the couches, etc.
Oh, and Colts memorabilia was going to sit in that room as well. A plethora of Colts items, mind you.
We purchased three gallons of Colts Blue paint from Home Depot and it sat at my fiance's apartment until we moved in.
Then, the project began.
A close look at the word paint. Remember, if you take the "t" off the end of the word, it spells pain.
Good grief, I don't think my arms have hurt as much as they did after painting those walls. It took almost a week to get over that and there's still a little numbness there.
I've painted before. I helped a friend paint his living room. It was a much smaller room, though.
This room was much bigger. And now, it's blue. Colts Blue.
When I had helped my friend paint his living room, he only needed two coats. It really wasn't that time consuming.
Painting that room, however, took a lot more effort. Three coats of effort.
Then, it was off to the bathroom. No wait, the dining room comes first.
The bathroom was also going to be Colts Blue. But that's on hold for now.
The dining room consists of two colors, a cream color and a dark red color.
My fiancÚ tackled that room, practically on her own because, after only taking off a week, I had to get back to my duties in the office.
It looks marvelous. I helped out as much as I could, but as I said, she really painted that one on her own.
This is a whole new experience for me. I've never been a homeowner and never really thought I'd take that route.
But so far, it's been a lot of fun. An experience, for sure, but a lot of fun.
We've got terrific neighbors and it's so quiet, which, to be honest, is probably the best thing about the home. I come home and I hear silence, which is truly golden.
We've still got some things to do, but it's a lovely home. And the dog loves it too.
