According to the Clay County Sheriff's Department, shortly before 3 a.m., Wednesday, Deputy Jonathon Chadd and Deputy/K-9 Handler Brison Swearingen performed a traffic stop near the I-70 24 mile-marker on a vehicle containing Zachery Starrett and Eric Miranda, both 21.
Officers discovered close to three grams of marijuana inside the vehicle.
Both men were taken into custody and transported to the Clay County Justice Center to be booked into jail for preliminary charges of possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
Although they each were processed with an initial $5,000 cash bond, jail officials confirmed that both Starrett and Miranda were bonded out of jail for the full cash amount around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Both cases will be reviewed by the Clay County Prosecutor's Office and the men will be contacted regarding their upcoming formal arraignment proceedings per the court schedule.
