Accident causes traffic problems on State Road 59

Monday, September 1, 2008

For the next couple of hours officials request that motorists find alternate routes to travel to avoid a two-vehicle traffic accident on State Road 59 just north of County Road 500 North.

Traffic is being diverted around the wreck using roads CR 500 N and CR 600 N while debris from the accident is cleared away. The southbound lane of SR 59 may be reopened shortly, however, officials anticipate they could be working in the area of the northbound lane for approximately the next five hours.

Duke Energy is expected to arrive on the scene shortly.

Motorists are urged to use caution while driving in the area and officials will be monitoring traffic until the area is cleared.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m., Monday, the accident was reported. Members of several local emergency response agencies responded to the scene, including the Clay County Sheriff's Department, Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department, Clay County Search and Rescue, TransCare, Air Evac and Lifeline air ambulances.

At least two unidentified victims were taken to St. Vincent Clay Hospital for medical treatment for undisclosed injuries shortly before 10:30 p.m.

Further information is not available at this time due to the ongoing investigation at the scene.

This story will be updated as more information is made available.

What's the point of mentioning "for approximately the next five hours"? And at what time was this article written? Wouldn't that info need to be known before mentioning that for the next five hours traffic would be diverted?

I believe, if you read...

"At least two unidentified victims were taken to St. Vincent Clay Hospital for medical treatment for undisclosed injuries shortly before 10:30 p.m."

Is it possible that the road would be closed for approximately the nent five hours from this point in time? Just my thoughts.
