Officials investigating early morning accident

Wednesday, September 3, 2008

Officials are currently investigating a Wednesday morning accident that sent one person to an Indianapolis hospital by air ambulance.

Details are limited, but officials at the Clay County Sheriff's Department confirmed a vehicle lost control and left the roadway and crashed near the intersection of State Road 340 and County Road 425 West shortly before 7 a.m.

Phone lines were knocked down during the accident, but it is not clear how many Verizon customers were affected.

Members of Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department, Clay County Search and Rescue and TransCare responded to the scene, while LifeLine transported the victim to Methodist Hospital for treatment from St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

The Brazil Times will update this story as more information is released.

I only wish that good could come out of incidents like this...speed doesn't get you there any faster. I am just glad that no kids were involved while they were waiting for the school bus to pick them up. How many accidents is it going to take before people wise up and slow down. This county has seen enough death and destruction.
