Motorist injured following accident

Wednesday, September 3, 2008

Officials believe that speeding could be the cause of an early Wednesday morning accident that remains under investigation by the Clay County Sheriff's Department.

According to information provided to The Brazil Times, shortly after 7 a.m., Deputy Brad Hardey responded to a single vehicle accident on State Road 340.

Franklyn J. Bailey, 21, Terre Haute, was traveling eastbound when he lost control of the 1991 Dodge Stealth he was driving.

Hardy said the vehicle left the roadway, flipped end over end and ultimately ejected Bailey.

Members of Posey Township Volunteer Fire Department, Clay County Search and Rescue assisted in stabilizing Bailey's medical condition at the scene before TransCare took him to St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

Bailey was later taken by LifeLine air ambulance to Clarian Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, for further medical treatment in the critical care unit.

At this time, Hardey said speeding is believed to be a factor in the accident that remains under investigation.

Hey! Gas is going down! Pour it on! This is evident by the increase in aggressive driving. I bike (motorcycle) to work everyday. I enjoy the gas mileage (I average 91.5 MPG, go ahead, drool a bit. Its really nice. Todays tank ended up at 93.79 MPG.) People just drive too fast and pay too little attention. They don't give themselves enough room for error. Young people think its cool. Older people think they can't make a mistake. Both are stupid. The first time you make a misjudgment like that on a bike, it hurts or you die. I'm not sorry this kid got hurt. I'm glad it didn't kill him but I hope he's in a lot of pain so he'll remember to slow down. Motorcyclers and other motorists may live because this guy remembers how stupid he was and slows down. I don't wish anybody ill, however, I do wish people to get justice. I think this guy got just that, if in fact he really was speeding. No one knows for sure but him.

The Rider............He is in more than just pain..and he might not make it, instead of saying you hope he is in pain is really a cold hearted thing to say. Everyone makes mistakes but this young man has a small child and needs to have his dad in his life intead of judging and not knowing all of the facts, you shouldnt judge until he can actually tell what happend but right now he is on life support and coma, so the least you could do is say a prayer for him instead of judging, we are all young, dumb, and stupid at one point in time in our lives. I bet you are just so perfect that you have never broke the speed limit and have ever been speeding right? I bet not , and you were fortunate not to have something horrific affect your entire family. If you say you have never speed you are not telling the truth because we all have at one time or another, where is your heart? you dont wish ill upon anyone but you wish pain upon them? Sounds heartless to me and if he happens to make it out im sure he will have learned a lesson he is only 21 and young people do make crazy choices, wish him well and hope he can be around for his little one who needs his dad in his life and dont be so cold hearted........and yes i am a family member, and im not saying what he did was right if he was speeding.....but he is still someones, son, father, grandson, cousin, brother, and so on....have a heart!!!!!

For starters,Who Cares What YOU pay for gas!!!!This was the stupidest thing i have read this far !!Completly ilrellavant to this boys situation,I believe YOU REAP what YOU sow!!If I were YOU I would park my bike and crawl(like the snake you are) because something bad might happen to You or one of YOUR family members! And I don't care if gas was free!!For your information This young man is not feeling pain because the wonderful caring people at indy have him sedated! Also for your information he was returning home from working the night shift and we think he fell asleep! I would also offer a prayer, but after reading your comment, WHO would be listning to you? You should be ashamed of yourself!!! If you only knew half the things this young man has been through in his life I promise you, you would feel the guilt and shame that you should feel!! There's a name for inconciderate people like you, but I can't post it because the times won't allow it!! Even if I did, then I would be just as low, unfeeling, FRANKLEY stupid as you. I'm greatful James and his entire family have all the love, thoughts and prayers that they do have cause they are very deserving, it's obvious someone was looking out for him, can you say the same? How dare you post such things when somones life is at stake!!! You do know what they say about karma, right? Maybe TheRider should step back, judge himself, and become TheCrawler!!!

TheRider

Did you even read this article? How does gas prices have anything to do with this???

Maybe you shouldn't pass judgement so quickly! James was just getting off work, did you ever stop to think that maybe he could have fell asleep?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but yours was just absolutely heartless!

You hope he's in a lot of pain? You know what comes around, goes around...

I hope anyone and everyone that reads this prays that he will pull through this!

Well first off i would like to say that at times like these you should be respectful to others and keep your rude comments and opions to yourself. While James lay in a hospital bed fighting for his life you live your life of ease with your oh so wonderful gas mileage that nobody really cares to hear about. On another note it's truly a blessing that there are friends and neighbors that will stick up for James as he is unable to do so himself. While we all read your comment wondering how someone like yourself can be so uncaring, cruel and heartless we know that there many more out there praying for James and his family. It is hard for me to understand you when you say you would never wish ill on anyone yet you wish him pain...what is the difference if i may ask??? Everyone has made mistakes before...some bigger than others but only God can judge us and it is him who said all sins are equal! James mistake is just as equal as the one you made when you posted that uncaring comment. After comments like yours i wonder if there is anybody willing to do the same for you if you were in this situation....i think i speak for the majority when i say not only do we pray for James....we pray for you.

Look he works 12 hour shifts at sony during the night, he was tired and made a mistake. The thing to rember is that he has a 1 yr. old beautiful son at home, family and friends that care about him, do you honestly think he wanted this to happen. Do you think he wanted to put everyone through this pain especially his own son who he loves more than anything in this world. He is in a lot of pain, physical and mental. The crash caused it and being away from his son caused it. Be thankful that his son didnt loose his father that day ond keep james in your prayers not in your resintment. We all need him in this lifetime so please keep him in your prayers.

Hey James is not an idiot and this is to the Rider. You are a complete idiot and to wish pain on any one is the most critical and cruelist things that anyone could say bout another human. You are an irittating and pompas person. Why don't you just go away. James is a good guy, good father, and great friend. so back off and give the guy a break
