Girls' soccer drops road decision to Warriors

Staff Reports

DANVILLE -- Northview came away soggy and with a loss on a Wednesday girls' soccer road trip, falling 4-1 to Danville.

The Knights endured a 90-minute rain delay before quickly falling behind 2-0 on goals by the Warriors' Danni Bishop.

The Knights lone goal in the first half came off a Lauren Webster steal in the midfield. Webster zipped a pass ahead to Jenny Woodcox who found Stormi Raines breaking free. Danville's fullback fouled Raines in the penalty box to give the Knights a penalty kick. Woodcox scored the goal at the eight-minute mark as the game went to break, 2-1.

"Webster played well the entire game and gave our team some opportunities," said coach Tony Alstott.

Webster would lead the squad with three steals in the contest.

At the 13-minute mark of the second half, the Knights suffered another blow when Tiffany Young collided with a Danville player and went to the turf. Two Northview teammates paused to check on her, but the whistle had not blown as Danville continued on to score a goal.

"They don't' stop play in soccer because of an injury," said Alstott.

Danville capped the scoring with one minute remaining in the 4-1 decision.

Rachel Alstott had 10 saves in net for the Knights.
