Raymond H. Stearley, 81, Brazil, passed away at Cloverleaf Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Knightsville, Sept. 6, 2008, following a lengthy illness.
He was born Aug. 17, 1927, in Brazil, to Sylvia and Harold Stearley.
Following graduation from Brazil High School, he entered the Merchant Marines during World War II. Ray married Ellen Gard in 1950.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack Lee Stearley and brother-in-law Lowell Sutton.
He is survived by his wife Ellen, daughter Nancy J. Clark and husband Mark, Springfield, Mo., and son Eric V. Stearley and wife Karen, Brazil, granddaughters: Ericka L. Layne and husband Jason, Noblesville, and Lindsey N. Stearley, Indianapolis, grandsons Ryan Clark, Denver, Colo., and Chad Clark and wife Angie, Strafford, Mo, great-grandsons Jackson Vaughn Layne, Noblesville, and Collen Michael Clark, Strafford, Mo., great-granddaughter Alyssa Grace Clark, Strafford, Mo., and sister Sharon Sutton, Groveland, Fla.
At his request cremation services have been requested. Any donations may be made for Ray to Sharon Sutton in care of Riddell National Bank 1 E. National Ave. Brazil, IN 47834. Lawson -- Miller Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
