Imperial Regiment earns second

Monday, September 15, 2008

INDIANAPOLIS -- The 2008 Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) season kicked off Saturday for the Clay City Imperial Regiment.

The Imperial Regiment competed at Franklin Central High School, coming away with second place in their class.

The regiment also took home Best Percussion.

"The kids were really excited about performing the first show," CCHS band director Mark Ziegler said. "They went out and did a great job. The judges loved the show.

"Four of the judges had us in the first-place position. We got good ideas on the areas we can improve on for next week. I am very pleased with how the kids have been working and we are continuing to improve."

The Imperial Regiment will perform at the Plainfield High School Invitation Saturday, beginning at 4:13 p.m.

Following Saturday's contest, the Imperial Regiment will compete at Avon and Greenwood Sept. 27 in preparation for the ISSMA District contest at Southport High School in Indianapolis on Oct. 4.

The Northview Marching Knights' season officially kicks off Saturday when the Knights compete at Plainfield in the evening.

Following Saturday's contest, the Marching Knights will compete at Brownsburg Sept. 27 before the Southport District competition.
