The annual Popcorn Festival of Clay County is just around the corner and we want you to be a part of it!
The Extension Office is sponsoring a popcorn recipe contest and a scarecrow contest this year and we would be honored if you would participate.
The scarecrow contest is open to everyone: families, individuals, groups, schools, organizations, churches, businesses and clubs. Judging will be based on creativity, uniqueness and construction.
The popcorn recipe contest is open to all individuals. Recipes will be judged on the use of popcorn, flavor and creativity. Recipes do not need to be original but the original source must be listed.
Each contest has three divisions: ages 12 and under; ages 13-19 and adult.
Deadline to enter either or both of these contests is Sept. 24. You can pick up an entry form at the Extension Office, located at the 4-H Fairgrounds, go on-line at: www.ces.purd-ue.edu/clay or call us at 448-9041 and we will mail or FAX you a copy.
While checking in your scarecrow and/or popcorn entry, be sure to look around the Extension Office booth. We will have all kinds of information on fitness and health and will be sponsoring a walk around Forest Park. We will have info about the 4-H program and how easy it is to become involved with this youth-oriented program.
There will be a list available of all publications Purdue offers to the public. For anyone who wants to write a letter to the troops overseas, we will have the necessary supplies.
All small children will have the opportunity to have a craft while visiting our booth. In other words, we will have something for everyone!
I have saved the best news for last……….Food Network will be at the Popcorn Festival and are very interested in the popcorn recipe contest!!
Just think you could be on national TV!!!
What an opportunity to shine and be a goodwill ambassador for Clay County.
Won't you join us in having fun? I hope to see you there!
